About Me

I was born and raised on the peninsula in the San Francisco Bay Area and maintain a practice in Burlingame, California.

I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from San Francisco State University.  After working in Human Resources for many years, I realized that my true passions lied with helping people.  I left the corporate world and returned to school to pursue my longtime goal of becoming a psychologist.  I obtained my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marital and Family Therapy from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California.  Following my Master's degree, I continued my education at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University in San Francisco where I obtained my Doctor of Psychology degree.

Much of my early experience was in treating individuals, couples and families where there was a history of abuse or trauma, or current PTSD.  I provided both psychotherapy and psychological assessments for this population.

Throughout the years, I had seen many patients,  family members, and friends struggle with post partum depression which led me to my research interest and my doctoral dissertation on "The Impact of Partner Support on Lesbians with Post Partum Depression."  For more information about this piece of work or other publications, please feel free to contact me.

I have over a decade of experience providing psychological services to patients.  I completed my Pre and Post-Doctoral internships with San Mateo Medical Center's Medical Psychiatry Service providing both outpatient and hospital based services to individuals and groups coping with mental illness comorbid with general medical conditions.   Furthermore, I have provided school, clinic and hospital based psychological services for a diverse population of individuals of all ages and ethnicities, families, couples and groups.

Over the past decade, I have seen more and more individuals struggle with infertility, menopause, early menopause, post partum depression, cancer, etc., both personally and professionally.  This combined with my experience working with patients struggling with psychological distress coinciding with medical illness at San Mateo Medical Center has led to my specialty.   I specialize in Women's Health Psychology treating the psychological difficulties that often coincide with common medical conditions that women face including but not limited to: Infertility, Menopause, Post Partum Depression, Cancer, Diabetes, interpersonal relationships, etc.  For more information, please look at my services provided page.

My psychotherapy practice is located in Burlingame, CA.  I often see patients from neighboring communities such as San Francisco, San Bruno, Millbrae, San Mateo, Foster City, Belmont, Redwood City and San Jose to name a few.
